Why we built saasrocket.space

The honest story behind a $19 one-time launch platform with a paper-cutout cinematic, a permanent star in the galaxy, and an auto-listing on directree.io.

The honest origin story

We already run directree.io -- a software directory where no listing ever pays for rank. Every tool is evaluated on its actual merits, every fact is labelled and verified. The idea was simple: make software discovery honest again.

Then we kept noticing something. Founders would submit their tool and ask: "How do I actually tell people about this?" The directory was the destination. There was no fanfare, no launch moment. Just: submitted. Next.

That felt wrong.

What if launching looked like launching?

We spent a few days asking a dumb question: what would a software launch look like if it was genuinely cinematic?

The answer we landed on was a paper-cutout rocket. You paste your product URL. We crawl your site, grab your logo, and put it on the hull of the rocket. Then it launches. Through the atmosphere. Into space. Your logo rides the hull the whole way up. When it reaches orbit, it shrinks to a star -- and that star stays on the galaxy map forever.

That is the actual product. Paper-cutout cinematic, permanent star, the works.

What you get for $29

The $29 is a one-time fuel fee. No subscriptions, no monthly charges, no pay-to-rank mechanics:

  • A paper-cutout launch cinematic with your product logo on the rocket hull
  • A permanent star on the saasrocket.space galaxy map (it does not disappear, ever)
  • Your own listing page at saasrocket.space/tool/your-product
  • An automatic listing on directree.io, labelled "Launched via saasrocket.space"
  • A free shareable replay link so you can post your launch anywhere

The directree listing is a natural side effect of us already running the directory. When you launch, we snapshot your data and create an entry there -- unclaimed, so you can take ownership through directree's normal flow whenever you like.

Why permanent?

A permanent star should not require a recurring payment to stay permanent. That word should mean something.

One payment. One star. It stays.

Where we are now

The Deep Space Run is live at /game -- a survival dodger where your listing rides the rocket hull and you compete on the live leaderboard. The galaxy has its first real stars. The replay link is shareable today.

We built saasrocket.space because launch day should feel like something. We think it does now.

Launch your SaaS for $29 and get your own permanent star.
